Two Years And Going Strong

Sixteen-year-old Romiyah Nedd-Clarke is the owner of Lippy Cosmetics a beauty skin care company that was launched on April 9th, 2021.

The former student of Springer Memorial Secondary School is celebrating her second anniversary as a businesswoman and has made some changes to her company’s products.

“Some of the changes I have implemented in the ;last year is that we have rebranded. We have changed our theme colour for the business back to the original pink and white, the labels have also been changed as well as we have discontinued a few scents of our products. However, we have added new products such as our body butters, lip balms,” she said.

Nedd-Clarke who started her company at the tender age of fourteen-years-old said that being a young entrepreneur has it challenges but with the help of her mom Gail Standard she has been able to preserve.

“Being a young entrepreneur is not as easy as persons make it seem. It is very challenging, especially if you are like me and still in school it becomes a lot of juggling and time management. Despite this, I am pleased to announce that I have just released my new product a cuticle oil. This cuticle oil is infused with raw natural oils that not only moisturizes the cuticle but they also strengthen the nail,” she said.

The current student at the University of The West Indies Open Campus where she is studying Human and Social Biology said that her company currently has an animal conscious focus thus it is safer for the skin and causes less harm to animals.

“I have always loved animals and I believe that animals should be treated with respect and not used for experiments. Thus, all of the products we use are natural and have not been tested on animals,” she said.

Nedd-Clarke had some words of encouragement for any young entrepreneur seeking to start their own businesses.

“Go for it! Do it for you and make sure it is something that you enjoy doing. One thing I have learnt in this process is that you are going to have to learn a lot of time management but if it is something you enjoy, you will easily be able to navigate the business and your educational aspirations,” she said.
