Nirvana Construction Inc. and Uplifting Women Charity Donate to Irving Wilson School
Nirvana Construction Inc. and Uplifting Women Charity recently outfitted the Home Economic Lab at the Irving Wilson School on March 20th, 2023.

The donation which included a fully functional kitchen consisted of kitchen counters, cupboards, sink, faucet, and the installation of a refrigerator was made by the Managing Director of Nirvana Construction Inc, Steven Hinds and Chairwoman of Uplifting Women Charity, Atoya Hinds.
Managing Director of Nirvana Construction Inc, Steven Hinds said his company decided to assist with the renovations of the Home Economics Lab at the Irving Wilson School to ensure that the students can be independent once they leave the Pine, St Michael learning institution.
“As young Barbadians, our community assisted Nirvana Construction Inc. Directors with their growth and development. Noting that some populations have historically been under-represented or subjected to discrimination because of their background and or disability is not giving them equal treatment. Our company is passionate about giving back and creating inclusive opportunities for the youth. There was a need in that community to develop students of the Irving Wilson School for life after school, and we decided to reduce the inequality gap by providing quality education for all,” he said.
The Chairwoman of Uplifting Women Charity Atoya Hinds said her organization decided to partner with Nirvana Construction Inc. as they share mutual interest in fostering youth development in the community.
“Uplifting Women Charity is a non-governmental organization that focuses on the development of education, entrepreneurship, and leadership in women through mentorship programmes, training sessions, awarding scholarships as well as distributing food hampers in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. We recently partnered with Nirvana Construction Inc to provide inclusive education in the home economics facilities for the Irving Wilson School. Our charity felt the need to expand its impact within the Barbadian community with a focus on the development of employability skills amongst youth who may have had challenges otherwise accessing such services geared toward personal and professional development,” she said.
As the world celebrates National Disabilities Month during the month of March, the two organizations made it their goal that the students at the Irving Wilson School would have their Home Economics Lab renovated so they can be taught critical life skills to aid them in their independence once they graduate from the Pine, St Michael learning institution.
To this end, the Managing Director of Nirvana Construction Inc and Chairwoman of Uplifting Women Charity Atoya Hinds worked with their sponsors Eastpoint Consultancy Inc. and Infinite Plumbing and Building Services from December 2022 to ensure that their donation was done during the Hilary Term (Term II).
