Letitia Keizer is the owner of Handy by Brandy which is a company that offers crotchet pieces including dresses, swimwear, neckpieces, handbags, items for babies and beanies.
The former student of the Garrison Secondary School said that she knew that she wanted to be a business owner from the tender age of fifteen.
“As a young entrepreneur, my motto is " Giving Up Is Not An Option " Therefore my ability to juggle many different avenues under the umbrella of " Handy by Brandy " which includes Crocheting, Hairdressing, Spa Services and Modeling,” she said.
Since operating her business for the past six years she has been featured on Mornin Barbados in 2019 whilst promoting a community fair and was able to display her crotchets designs on stage.
How did Letitia get started in crocheting?
Keizer said initially she attended the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, the Barbados Skills Training Board, and the Barbados Community College where she studied cosmetology, massage therapy, advanced nail technology and fashion design after which she decided she would pursue crocheting as a new interest and the rest is history.
“As a cosmetologist creativity is a natural part of my profession. As a result, I am always looking for a new interest, so I decided to give crochet a try. I told myself I can do it and I did. What motivated me was my determination and desire for success. I want to be an inspiration to someone,” she said.
The owner of Handy by Brandy who described herself as God-fearing, strong, resilient, and compassionate said she would like the Government to provide more opportunities to showcase their skills and talents thereby allowing them to generate much-needed revenue.
Despite this Keizer is seeking to continue to build her business and will be having combo specials throughout the year. For Valentine’s Day, she will be having a special giveaway which would be posted on her Instagram page @handy_by_brandy.
