Cocktails and Comedy hold its first all-white comedy show.

The lounge of Platinum Cigar Lounge, Limegrove, St James was transformed into Smoke and Mirrors as Cocktails and Comedy held its first all-white event on Tuesday, 21st March 2023.

The show which was organized by Simon Alleyne who is the owner of Cocktails and Comedy kicked off at 8pm with the smooth sounds of jazz from saxophonist Romaro Greaves.

Alleyne said the event was well received as it was a different concept patrons were able to enjoy.

“The highlights of the night were comedians Jason Carmichael and Steve ‘Biko’ Garnes who kept the audience in stitches. Limegrove Lifestyle Centre has a particular ambience that is welcoming for live music especially jazz. The location of the show on the balcony of 1642 Sipping Room and Cocktail Bar under the moonlight, paired well with the performances of Romaro Greaves and the comedians,” he said.

Alleyne said he was inspired to do the all-white comedy show because it was an extension of the Smoke and Mirrors theme of the night and UV lighting allowed him to create that atmosphere.

“It was an intimate crowd of patrons who attended the event. The majority of them were couples. The patrons really enjoyed the event as they were offered complimentary cigars, gift vouchers and shots of whiskey for their participation throughout the comedy show,” he said.

The owner of Cocktails and Comedy said his brand was seeking to fill the void that has been created in the comedy landscape on the national level.

“We realized that there was a void in the local comedy landscape thus with our show we are looking to create a level of consciousness of comedy at the national level. We are seeking to host a large show annually in the not-too-distant future as well,” he said.
